District Manager

Location : Assumption, IL, US

  • Assumes ownership of the territory as though it was his / her own business for the long term. Charged with developing dealers, growing the business, and satisfying customers within the territory.
  • Achieve targeted sales and market share targets by developing and implementing all aspects of dealer and / or customer coverage and support.

Close coordination with Marketing and Product Management. Achieve a positive working relationship, promotes cooperation and a high level of teamwork with other District Sales Managers, inside sales, marketing and product management personnel.

Develop an intimate knowledge of the technical aspects of the entire AP product line in order to design, demonstrate, and quote complete systems, plus oversee proper installation, start up, and operation of all products in the product line.

Visits to job sites and dealer locations will be mandatory.

Analyze and provide dealer development opportunities and recommendations to support strategic growth initiatives. Develop dealer location strategy for the territory.

Evaluate and recommend dealer candidates that will most effectively represent objectives of AP to assure customer satisfaction.

Counsels with Dealers to develop and utilize specific and measurable business plans and strategic plans to support Dealer and Company growth initiatives.

This includes facilities planning, personnel planning and succession planning.

Coordinate with Dealers to identify, develop, and implement measurable marketing plans to grow business in their assigned territory.

Work closely with Marketing and Product management on promotions, incentives, and / or other targeted incentives as appropriate.

  • Provide accurate timely sales forecasts by product line for each Dealer within assigned territory. Interface weekly with National Sales Manager and provide updates on sales results, opportunities and / or issues.
  • Obtain a thorough knowledge of all AP products to effectively train customers in the salient features of our products. Schedule and assists in training Dealer personnel in Dealer Management, financial management, inventory management, order fulfillment, and sales management.

Also includes analyzing Dealer and Customer training requirements and recommends strategies and programs to address identified issues.

  • Support the Dealer with retail sales promotions for whole goods and parts which includes identifying and pursuing new product lines, recommending merchandising, promotion, and advertising options.
  • Participates in conducting new product introductions, Dealer / Customer training and information meetings, demonstrations and trade shows.
  • Monitors and reports competitive product, promotion, and incentive activity. Maintain a constant awareness of economic, marketing and dealer / customer trends.

Work closely with Product Management and Marketing to identify new product needs and developments. Stay abreast of product performance, customer expectations and satisfaction.

Participate in planning and management meetings, prepare sales forecast, report on key meetings, market analysis and communications of overall market conditions.

  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years sales experience in related industry preferred.
  • Bachelors degree. Equivalent and demonstrated successful work experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Broad understanding of Company products and applications to drive value-added sales and market share growth.
  • Broad knowledge of market development, sales promotion methods, and product applications Familiarity with dealer / customer practices, service requirements, dealer / customer issues is essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, planning and organization ability is essential.
  • Literate in use of computer software to include Word, Excel, Email, and product configuration software.
  • Adequate understanding of financial concepts to support business planning, sales forecasting, margin analysis, product costing, and pricing.
