Senior Contracting Officer, Contracting

Reporting to the Associate Director of Contracting, the Senior Contracting Officer is responsible for the review and negotiation of all sponsored programs agreements such as grants, cooperative agreements, contracts, fee for service engagements, and other non-funded agreements from federal and non-federal sponsors and ensure the team meets the service level agreements for review and negotiation. As assigned by the AD Contracting, the SCO reviews, redlines, negotiates, and provides feedback for all sponsored programs related agreements. Represents Boston University to sponsors. Working in a highly collaborative environment, they serve as the subject matter expert on federal and non-federal contracting regulations, negotiations, and best practices. Engages with systems and processes supporting the life cycle of an agreement. Keeps abreast of the ever-changing landscape of Federal and non-Federal Sponsors at Boston University, including changes to Sponsor regulations and policies and broader research related landscape. The SCO will support the development and maintenance of guidance materials related to federal and non-federal contracting at the proposal and agreement stages and will follow to ensure a consistent approach to the award negotiation methods of the contracting team. Works in partnership with faculty, researchers, and administrators to support the RFP review, agreement review and acceptance process. Responsible for providing excellent customer service to faculty, administrators, and sponsors and meeting all service level agreements of the department. The SCO will have a high level of emotional intelligence, work effectively with colleagues and peers, know when to escalate issues accordingly, and promotes a professional environment at all times. This position requires the ability to independently solve difficult problems using logic, methods, and effective solutions. If individual is not currently certified, the SCO is encouraged to sit for the Certification Research Administrator (CRA) Exam. This is a 18-24 month term position.

At least 7 years of related experience and a bachelor's degree, equivalent experience will be considered instead of degree. CRA certification preferred.
