Primary Location : 1100 Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78701 Position Type : Full-time position, 40 hours per week, Mon-Fri 8am-5pm. Must be able to work with the Agency's 365 day-per-year schedule that may include weekends, evenings and holidays, including on short notice. Hiring Range : $110,000 - $125,000 annually Salary Plan : B-26 Job Class (Code) : Project Manager IV (1561) Organization Overview : The State Preservation Board (SPB) was established for the purpose of preserving, maintaining, and restoring the State Capitol and the 1857 General Land Office, which houses the Capitol Visitors Center. Since that time, Agency operations have expanded to include care of the Governor's Mansion, operating the Bullock Texas State History Museum, Texas State Cemetery, Capitol Mall and three Capitol Complex legislative office buildings. We provide educational programs centered on Texas history, government and culture. These services benefit the citizens of Texas and its visitors. Position Summary : The Project Manager reports directly to the Deputy Executive Director under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Work involves advanced (senior-level) project management work such as field monitoring and construction management. Work includes maintaining multi-agency or enterprise-level projects, obtaining authorization and commitment, and demonstrating business need and project feasibility. Assist in design, development and construction administration. Conduct research; and coordinate special projects as assigned by the Deputy and Executive Director. Perform all other duties as assigned and is able to multi-task and achieve quality deliverables within allotted timeframes. Coordinates, plans, and evaluates major construction, tenant improvement and infrastructure projects using accepted project management methods. Coordinates construction project activities with other state agencies, governmental jurisdictions, or private sector partner and contractors. Monitors and manages construction project costs and quality to ensure that the project is completed within budget and fulfill the terms of the project contract or specifications. Communicates construction project methodology and processes to interested groups and team members. Initiate multi-agency or enterprise-level projects, obtain authorization and commitment, and demonstrate business needs and project feasibility. Develop and implement plans to communicate construction project methodology and processes to interested groups and team members. Create documentation procedures to capture and manage changes in original construction project plan. Oversee multiple construction projects concurrently. May testify before legislative and interested groups on construction project status as directed by the Director of Facilities or the Capitol Architect, and other issues of public interest. Administer, coordinate and oversee construction projects and designs, for the Capitol, Capitol Extension, Capitol Visitors Center and Capitol Complex Grounds, Cemetery and legislative buildings. Assist Architect with code research including ADA compliance, materials and products coordination, and historical research for design projects at the Capitol, Capitol Extension, Capitol Visitors Center and Capitol Complex Grounds, Governor's Mansion, Texas State Cemetery and Legislative Buildings. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities : Ability to accurately respond to various public requests for information and technical assistance related to all duties as assigned. Perform all required research as needed to provide reliable information to all requesters. Ability and skill to use a personal computer, keyboard and monitor, telephone, touch tone dial pad and other office equipment to perform various duties; perform manually repetitive tasks that are physically and mentally demanding. Ability to perform all duties as assigned in a manner that promotes public confidence in the SPB and its employees. Ability to demonstrate effective interpersonal, verbal and written presentation skills in communicating with others. Ability to remain abreast and complies with all applicable safety rules, regulations, standards and emergency procedures including applicable OSHA, Agency, local, state, and federal security and safety rules, regulations, and established industry safety and security techniques and standards. Ability to plan and manage work with safety and security perspective. Ability to continuously assess safety conditions to ensure individual and workplace safety and safety of visitors and staff. Ability to promote visitor safety and building security. Assists with building evacuation if necessary. May oversee the work of contractors and / or interns. Adhere to all agency policies and procedures. Regular attendance is an essential job duty for all SPB positions. Must be available to work after regular business hours, including weekends and evenings, especially during legislative sessions. Required Education and Experience : Bachelor's degree from an accredited university with a major in engineering, construction, business, communications or related field.
