The GE9X Design Engineering team is looking for experienced mechanical design engineers ready to work on the largest and most powerful commercial aircraft engine in the world – the GE9X – as we progress toward entry into service on Boeing's 777X aircraft. Within GE9X Design Engineering, the Lead HPC Rotor Design Engineer will support efforts focused on product durability, validation, and entry into service preparations.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead efforts around product durability and validation. Recognize and complete validation activities, own repair substantiation efforts, support the leading indicator program and partner with PSE for implementation.
- Lead the design of HPC rotating parts unique to thermal survey instrumentation application and routing.
- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
- Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
- Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and / or interdependent production cycles.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or advanced degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.Minimum 3 years' experience in design engineering roleLegal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.Desired Characteristics
Bachelor's or advanced degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering from an accredited university or college.5+ years experience in hardware / rotating parts design engineering role including some exposure to fielded product supportDemonstrated expertise in design and analysis tools, such as Unigraphics / NX, ANSYS classic.Experience and familiarity with GD&T principles and reading drawings.Experience in manufacturing high-precision, turbomachinery components.Familiarity with and ability to leverage FLIGHT DECK, GE Aerospace's proprietary LEAN operating modelStrong oral and written communication skills.Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.Established project management skills.GE Aerospace offers a great work environment, professional development, challenging careers, and competitive compensation.
