Animal Care Manager

Manatee County Government is seeking an Animal Care Manager for the Animal Control Administration Division. The position is full-time and salaried, with a salary range of $51,912.00 - $83,059.20 annually. The job is located in Bradenton, FL, within the Community & Veterans Services Department.

The Animal Care Manager will supervise staff of the Animal Care Shelter of Manatee County to ensure the humane and proper care of animals while at the shelter. The role includes maintaining relationships with the Chief Veterinarian of Operations, ensuring proper protocol is followed for the care and treatment of impounded animals, and managing the disposition of all animals according to ordinance, policy, or procedure. The manager will also work with shelter departments and volunteers to ensure safe, high-quality behavior support from intake to outcome, support staff to optimize the mental health and welfare of animals, increase adoptability, and set animals up for success in a new home.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a minimum of three years' experience working in animal shelters or animal control, two years of training and behavior modification relevant to shelter induced behaviors, high stress housing conditions, and shelter enrichment, and one year of supervisory or lead experience. The candidate must obtain Florida State Certification in Animal Euthanasia within one year of hire. Background in animal behavior / training is highly desired.
