Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level I Trauma Emergency Department position requiring Cerner proficiency and at least one year of Level I trauma experience.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in an acute care Level I Trauma Emergency Department
  • 36-bed acute and 54-bed subacute ER unit with 6 trauma bays
  • Patient ratio of 1 : 4 in the emergency department
  • Common cases include trauma, chest pain, spinal cord and head injuries, burns, behavioral health, and pediatrics (peds transferred out)
  • Utilizes Cerner EMR and Phillips telemetry monitors
  • 12-hour night shifts with 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period
  • Work schedule includes 2 out of 4 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year’s)
  • Floating required between main campus, Westgate, and two free-standing ERs, possibly midshift
  • Orientation includes 2-3 shifts on the floor
  • SIMs lab and pass / fail exams required during orientation
  • Charge RNs and PCTs present for support
  • No on-call requirement
  • Navy scrubs are required
  • Responsible for providing direct nursing care for a varied caseload of emergency patients in a high-volume department
  • Expect to manage trauma cases and perform skills such as Foley catheter insertion and sterile port-a-cath procedures
  • Attendance at SIMs lab required with emphasis on sterile field maintenance; failure may result in immediate removal from assignment
  • Must maintain natural hair color and no facial piercings; men must be clean-shaven for fit testing
  • Pharmacy and respiratory therapy support available 24 / 7
  • Holiday coverage required as scheduled
  • Travelers must have their own vehicle due to multiple float locations
  • 30-40 psych holds can be expected at a time
  • \n \n Requirements\n

  • Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of recent ER experience
  • At least 1 year of Level I Trauma ER experience as a traveler or permanent staff (will consider 8+ months)
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
  • Cerner EMR experience required, must be recent
  • Must be able to read telemetry strips
  • Must pass Relias Dysrhythmia and sterile technique exams prior to final offer (2 attempts allowed)
  • 50-mile radius rule applies; driver’s license address determines eligibility
  • Not accepting first-time travelers
  • Candidates must not have worked for associated health system in the past year
