American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level I Trauma Emergency Department position requiring Cerner proficiency and at least one year of Level I trauma experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an acute care Level I Trauma Emergency Department36-bed acute and 54-bed subacute ER unit with 6 trauma baysPatient ratio of 1 : 4 in the emergency departmentCommon cases include trauma, chest pain, spinal cord and head injuries, burns, behavioral health, and pediatrics (peds transferred out)Utilizes Cerner EMR and Phillips telemetry monitors12-hour night shifts with 4 weekend shifts per 4-week periodWork schedule includes 2 out of 4 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year’s)Floating required between main campus, Westgate, and two free-standing ERs, possibly midshiftOrientation includes 2-3 shifts on the floorSIMs lab and pass / fail exams required during orientationCharge RNs and PCTs present for supportNo on-call requirementNavy scrubs are requiredResponsible for providing direct nursing care for a varied caseload of emergency patients in a high-volume departmentExpect to manage trauma cases and perform skills such as Foley catheter insertion and sterile port-a-cath proceduresAttendance at SIMs lab required with emphasis on sterile field maintenance; failure may result in immediate removal from assignmentMust maintain natural hair color and no facial piercings; men must be clean-shaven for fit testingPharmacy and respiratory therapy support available 24 / 7Holiday coverage required as scheduledTravelers must have their own vehicle due to multiple float locations30-40 psych holds can be expected at a time\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of considerationMinimum 2 years of recent ER experienceAt least 1 year of Level I Trauma ER experience as a traveler or permanent staff (will consider 8+ months)Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications requiredCerner EMR experience required, must be recentMust be able to read telemetry stripsMust pass Relias Dysrhythmia and sterile technique exams prior to final offer (2 attempts allowed)50-mile radius rule applies; driver’s license address determines eligibilityNot accepting first-time travelersCandidates must not have worked for associated health system in the past year\n Benefits\n
