Title : Process Engineer - Injection Molding

The Process Engineer – Injection Molding plays a critical role in optimizing manufacturing processes, supporting tooling reliability, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This position will lead process optimization efforts, troubleshoot molding-related issues, and manage tooling projects to improve quality, efficiency, safety, and overall plant profitability. The engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support and enhance manufacturing operations.
This role reports into the Technical and Continuous Improvement Manager when the position is unfilled.
Key Responsibilities
Process Optimization & Troubleshooting
- Lead efforts to optimize injection molding processes for improved efficiency and product quality.
- Apply scientific molding principles (e.g., RJG, decoupled molding, and process tracking tools) to ensure consistency and process reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve product and process issues related to molding and assembly.
- Create, update, and maintain standard work instructions and process validation documentation to reduce variability.
Mold Tooling & Equipment Management
Oversee mold tooling projects from design through production, including fabrication, validation, and handover.Supervise Mold Maintenance Technicians to ensure proactive maintenance and maximize mold / tool life.Manage mold repair programs in collaboration with Quality teams, including validation and maintenance scheduling.Support new equipment and tooling start-up, installation, and troubleshooting.Assist with equipment validation, including drafting and executing related documentation.Quality Control & Continuous Improvement
Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with GMP, food safety, and quality control standards.Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and other CI methodologies to improve operational performance.Troubleshoot defects in part processes and refine tooling for optimal production outcomes.Analyze production data to identify inefficiencies and implement cost-effective improvements.Education :
In lieu of a degree, 6–8 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment with a strong focus on injection molding will be considered.
Required Skills & Experience :
