Geotechnical Engineer, for COWI in North America

Overview

Geotechnical Engineer — New York — Regular, Full-time — Hybrid

Responsibilities

• Collaborate and work cross-functionally with engineers and project managers in the analysis and design of foundations for bridges, marine structures, and underground large infrastructure.
• Perform 2-D or 3-D soil-structure interaction analysis, geotechnical analysis, and dynamic analysis using advanced finite element software, and perform geotechnical / structural design.
• Perform the design and analysis of deep foundations using industry standard software (i.e. Apile, Lpile, Group, GRLWEAP, etc.) and provide input to structural team members.
• Perform the design and analysis of shallow foundations including bearing capacity and determining settlement (i.e. elastic and consolidation settlement).
• Analyze / design earth retaining structures and perform slope stability analyses using SlopeW or similar software.
• Prepare design deliverable documents, provide geotechnical design recommendations, follow quality control procedures in the preparation of calculations, design drawings, and specifications.
• Implement design best practices in areas of expertise, in addition, to ensuring conformance with all applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
• Visit the project site as required by the project (10 percent of job responsibilities may take place out of the office).

Base compensation : $80,000 to $102,000 for New York location only. Actual compensation is subject to variations due to education, experience, skill set and / or location.
