Job Responsibilities
With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.
This position is located at the Charleston Dorchester Department of Mental Health, Tri County Stabilization Center, 3685 Rivers Ave #302 North Charleston SC 29405
Responsibilities for this Position Title include but are not limited to :
Under limited supervision, perform duties of registered nurse at TriCounty Crisis Stabilization Center to include direct and indirect care of patients and support of the unit functioning. Work closely with other nurses, staff and physicians on the unit, other agencies and the community to provide crisis stabilization services to patients.
Provides direct nursing services as credentialed to the patients of TCSC and consult with teams regarding medical and nursing issues and perform nursing services which includes but are not limited to medication management and monitoring, medication administration, injections and vital signs monitoring.
Provide a full range of nursing care including but not limited to education, identification of obvious symptoms of both physical and mental illness, and treatment of symptoms according to Federal, State and Center policies and procedures. Report urgent and emergent issues toon-call physician and supervisor. Functions as part of the nursing team and is responsible for medication cart, including daily audits to meet state agency requirements and audits by DMH pharmacy consultant, ordering of medical supplies as needed.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
State Minimum Requirements :
Successful completion of an approved nursing education program for professional nursing or an equivalent course of study from an approved nursing education program per Section 40-33-32 of the South Carolina Nurse Licensure Act.
Agency (Facility) Minimum Requirements :
INT : Graduation from accredited school of practical nursing and three (3) years of experience and two (2) years must have been in a community mental program.

Preferred Qualifications
Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the SC Board of Nursing. Some positions require a valid driver's license and / or certification in Basic Life support.
Additional Comments
Position is for a 24 / 7 program. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays as needed. This position is considered essential and may require reporting for duty in the events of a weather or similar emergency events.
