About the role

The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for driving growth in the Sign and Graphics product segment within an assigned territory. This role focuses on business expansion, acquiring new customers, and increasing sales with existing accounts. The primary goal is to grow sales of proprietary brand products across the segment. The BDM serves as a subject matter expert in Sign and Graphics and plays a key role in identifying, qualifying, and converting new business opportunities. They will also collaborate with Automotive BDMs to support growth initiatives across the automotive division.

What you'll do

  • Execute a disciplined business development strategy aligned with company goals, from prospecting to closing and post-sale follow-up.
  • Use a mix of field visits and strategic phone outreach to drive sales growth, prioritize high-value opportunities, and optimize territory coverage.
  • Apply the Fellers Sales System effectively, including managing time and travel, conducting structured sales calls, using Salesforce accurately, and reporting timely.
  • Develop and use product expertise in sign and graphic films to deliver impactful presentations and demos to sign shops, printers, and key stakeholders.
  • Identify new customer opportunities through cold calling, networking, referrals, and industry events, while nurturing leads through the sales funnel.
  • Create tailored sales presentations and proposals that clearly communicate product value and differentiation.
  • Maintain a focus on profitability by managing pricing and margins to ensure sustainable growth.
  • Analyze sales data regularly to identify trends, evaluate performance, and uncover growth opportunities within the territory.
  • Collaborate with the Automotive team to identify cross-division opportunities and engage the appropriate BDM for support.
  • Represent the company at regional and national trade shows to increase visibility and generate new business.
  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with customers, vendors, and internal teams for long-term growth and satisfaction.
  • Negotiate and close deals with a focus on creating mutually beneficial outcomes and long-term account value.
  • Coordinate with Sales, Marketing, Training, and other departments to ensure a cohesive customer experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in business development or related sales roles.
  • Proven success in new business development.
  • Experience in the Sign and Graphics industry is preferred but not required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with Salesforce is a plus.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems is required.
  • Required Skills / Abilities

  • Must reside within the assigned geography (MD, DE, PA, NY, CT, MA, NH, VT, RI & ME).
  • Must be a self-starter, enthusiastic, driven, and self-motivated.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to multi-task, work remotely, and independently.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Proficiency with PC and Microsoft Windows-based programs.
  • Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel overnight by plane and / or car, up to 80% of the time.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
