Thus, the Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions for Non-Tenure Track Faculty should be interpreted in the context of the related departmental and collegiate teaching goals.
Teaching – Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to teaching may include but are not limited to: subject matter competence, course design, course presentation, and grading student work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Essential duties and responsibilities include 1) teaching, advising, curriculum and instructional development, and 2) service to the University, the public, and the profession.
The responsibilities will include: teaching in the BSW and MSW Programs; articulating a service agenda to the University, public, and profession that builds on one’s professional expertise; serving as a member in the governance of the University, relevant professional organizations, and community organizations.
Relevant professional licenses or certifications are in good standing.
The candidate demonstrates capacity for sustained contributions in teaching and service. Minimum Experience/Education
UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned masters and/or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.
Preferred Education, Skills and Experience
Required: An MSW from a CSWE-accredited program with a minimum of 3 years of post-MSW practice experience. Candidates must possess higher education teaching experience and demonstrated excellence in instruction of social work courses (at BSW, MSW, or doctoral levels). Candidates must demonstrate the ability to contribute to the School of Social Work’s mission and vision.
Preferred: An LCSW in NC (or eligibility through comity with another state) or a doctorate in social work or a related field is welcome; teaching experience in higher education and distance education experience; Strongly prefer both online and in-person teaching experience in social work higher education; Experience in curriculum design and development.
