Bridge Inspection Team Leader - Structural Engineer
WSP is initiating a search for a Bridge Inspection Team Leader - Structural Engineer to join the Structures Bridge Design Team in our New England offices (Boston, MA; Worcester, MA; Providence, RI; Merrimack, NH; Glastonbury, CT). This role is suitable for someone new to people leadership and interested in becoming a Team Leader.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Bridge / Highway Design Team on project development and design tasks.
- Perform professional structural engineering work and inspections.
- Assist in the preparation of Bridge Load Ratings.
- Work as a Team Member on Bridge Inspections.
- Assist with development of plans / sketches using AutoCAD.
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers, architects, planners, and scientists to execute project work on multiple concurrent projects.
- Provide guidance and training to entry-level engineers.
- Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills, including project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
- Support the preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates; assist in maintaining project documentation.
- Remain current in latest structural engineering techniques and practices.
- Adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies; exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.5 to 7 years of experience in bridge inspection or design or related bridge work.Engineer in Training Certification.Proficient knowledge of structural engineering principles and their application to project work.Interest in structures / transportation; desire to advance skills related to WSP's projects.Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.Ability to work independently and provide guidance / leadership to junior team members.Advanced proficiency with technical writing, Office software, and related tools; working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to WSP health, safety, and harassment policies.Flexibility to work schedules that may extend beyond the typical workweek; occasional travel may be required.Preferred Qualifications
Essential Professional Licensure / Certification.Working knowledge of AutoCAD.Active participation in local professional practice organizations.Benefits and compensation : WSP provides a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, retirement savings, paid leave, and other allowances. Compensation range : $90,600 - $150,590. WSP USA reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range.
