Enterprise Controller
The City of Norfolk's Department of Public Works is currently seeking an Enterprise Controller in its Financial Management Division to oversee and facilitate the Financial Reporting function of the Department. This position will report to the Manager of Budget and Accounting. The Department of Public Works builds, maintains, and operates the physical facilities that support and enhance the lives of Norfolk's citizens, businesses and visitors, including the City's storm water system, street network, waste management and recycling systems. The Department is comprised of 7 divisions that function collectively to make your commute safe and efficient, your neighborhood more attractive, and the streets and sidewalks clean and well-maintained. The Financial Management Division is primarily responsible for the collection, distribution, and maintenance of funds handled within the Department of Public Works. The Division administers the storm water billing program, oversees accounting and budget functions, and helps maintain the fiscal integrity of the department's budget and fiscal policies.
Essential functions include but are not limited to :
Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Academic courses or areas of concentration preferred : Accounting, Business, or Public Administration 5+ years experience in Accounting, preferably including Enterprise Fund functions.
