Overview
Position : Information Technology Technician II (Full-time, 35 hours per week). Location : CT State Community College, 185 Main Street, New Britain, CT 06051. This is a 12-month, tenure track position within a Community College framework. Anticipated start date : December 2025. Closing date and application deadlines are noted in the posting below.
Position Summary
The Information Technology Technician II independently performs a broad range of computer hardware and software operation, maintenance and repair at a Community College that relies on computerized services to support academic and administrative functions. Responsibilities include supporting academic computer labs, classroom instructional technology, and databases and reporting programs, including the centralized Banner system, to assist departments such as the Business Office, Registrar, Admission, Library, and Student Services. The role provides technical assistance to users through installation of hardware and software, diagnoses and repairs operating problems, schedules and assists in operating computer labs, and demonstrates or provides instruction to students and trains administrators in software applications.
Example of Job Duties
Additional duties include attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies; service on assigned committees and task forces; and attendance at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings. Evening or weekend attendance may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
Associates degree in computer science or related technological discipline, plus one (1) or more years of experience in computer system and software installation, repair, maintenance, and operation; or a combination of education, training, and experience leading to the required competencies.
Incumbents are required to have demonstrated advanced knowledge and abilities in the following :
Candidates must possess proven ability to work effectively with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students. Excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills and strong IT literacy (e.g., Microsoft Office : Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).

Starting Salary
Minimum salary range : $63,585 to $67,844 annually, plus medical insurance, retirement, and related benefits. Salary is based on qualifications including education and experience, with consideration for internal equity.
