The Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is seeking to fill an Office Specialist I position out of the Augusta office.

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION : This is office and administrative support work. The successful applicant will be a collaborative member of a small team of people whose primary responsibility is :

  • Performing complex varied office support tasks working directly with agents in person, on the phone, through the internet and by mail.
  • Providing oral and written information explaining various licensing and registration requirements in accordance with office standards.
  • To learn and know State of Maine laws that pertain to licensing and registrations.
  • Providing phone and technical support to the Department's licensing and registration agents.
  • Posting agent payments, making agent account adjustments, issuing / mailing inventory, and reconciling agent accounts.

The successful candidate should have extensive experience in the use of computers and various computer applications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a proficient knowledge of modern office practices to perform advanced administrative support tasks requiring specialized skills, and 2) the ability to use independent judgment, initiative, and discretion to make determinations on varied matters. All positions in this classification assume the qualifications of : Office Assistant I, Office Assistant II, Office Associate I and Office Associate II.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in cash handling and working with the public both in person and on the phone.
