Overview
The Chief Accounting Officer is the most senior Accounting executive responsible for overseeing corporate accounting, tax, SEC financial reporting, internal controls, financial statements, and regulatory compliance. This role will be instrumental in building the accounting and tax infrastructure, policies, and compliance framework needed for a successful IPO and ongoing public company obligations.
Responsibilities
- Direct monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes with timely and accurate reporting.
- Oversee all Federal, State, and local tax compliance (including income, excise, payroll, property, and fuel taxes).
- Lead prep and certification of SEC filings : 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K.
- Maintain compliance with GAAP, SEC regulations, SOX, and Department of Transportation financial reporting requirements.
- Lead all standards in preparation for IPO : experience with IPO disclosures and S-1 registration.
- Design and implement SOX internal control frameworks, specifically controls related to mitigating tax-related risks related to fuel prices and foreign currency.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing accounting team.
- CPA required.
