Corporate Affairs Specialist
Supports the delivery of external communication messages, programs and initiatives to increase BMO's engagement externally. Communicates with employees, media and other stakeholders on matters related to corporate affairs & corporate messaging. Supports a wide range of campaigns and programs including special events, fundraisers, education and awareness, and relationships with internal & external partners. Ensures BMO's brand is communicated in a way that reflects our values and corporate responsibility.
Responsibilities include :
- Providing strategic input into business decisions as a trusted advisor.
- Making recommendations to senior leaders on strategy and new initiatives.
- Acting as a subject matter expert on relevant regulations and policies.
- Networking with industry contacts to gain competitive insights.
- Acting as the day to day subject matter expert for the external communications program.
- Representing BMO's position and business interests to specific stakeholder organizations.
- Managing resources and leading the execution of strategic initiatives.
- Helping determine business priorities and best sequence for execution.
- Conducting independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues.
- Developing the business case by identifying needs and assessing potential options.
- Recommending business priorities, advising on resource requirements, and developing a roadmap for strategic execution.
- Supporting the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Researching and identifying position statements on specific issues to support a proposed program.
- Executing program & initiative activities based on a detailed understanding of the program / initiative requirement.
- Acting as the prime subject matter expert for internal / external stakeholders.
- Identifying opportunities for alignment with other BMO groups to strengthen messaging.
- Building effective relationships with internal / external stakeholders.
- Ensuring alignment between stakeholders.
- Reviewing and assessing internal and external requests; working with partners to prioritize & approve work.
- Conducting independent review, analysis, and resolution of corporate affairs / external communication related issues.
- Leading change management programs of varying scope and type, including readiness assessments, planning, stakeholder management, execution, evaluation, and sustainment of initiatives.
- Leading the development of the communication strategy focusing on positively influencing or changing behavior.
- Collaborating across BMO to develop communications strategies and ensure consistency of messaging.
- Leading the execution of operational programs; assessing and adapting as needed to ensure quality of execution.
- Providing input into the planning and implementation of operational programs.
- Executing work to deliver timely, accurate, and efficient service.
- Developing solutions and making recommendations based on an understanding of the business strategy and stakeholder needs.
- Providing advice and guidance to assigned business / group on implementation of solutions.
- Developing knowledge related to external communications and / or area of specialty e.g. media relations.
- Collaborating with internal & external stakeholders to provide business context in the design, development, and implementation of external communication programs / campaigns and / or events.
- Supporting the organization and execution of external communication related initiatives, programs, campaigns, and events e.g. community sponsorship events, fundraising campaigns, etc.
- Supporting the development, production, and distribution of communication, campaign, and special event materials across all delivery channels.
- Ensuring that BMO's brand is used correctly and effectively in all content by applying standards.
- Breaking down strategic problems, and analyzing data and information to provide insights and recommendations.
- Monitoring and tracking performance, and addressing any issues. Designing and producing regular and ad-hoc reports, and dashboards.
- Supporting the development and execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Operating at a group / enterprise-wide level and serving as a specialist resource to senior leaders and stakeholders.
- Applying expertise and thinking creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and to find solutions to problems that can be complex and non-routine.
- Implementing changes in response to shifting trends.
- Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications :
Typically 7+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience in media relations or external communications related field-In-depth / Expert.Seasoned professional with a combination of education, experience, and industry knowledge.Verbal & written communication skills - In-depth / Expert.Analytical and problem solving skills - In-depth / Expert.Influence skills - In-depth / Expert.Collaboration & team skills; with a focus on cross-group collaboration - In-depth / Expert.Able to manage ambiguity.Data driven decision making - In-depth / Expert.Salary : $122,400.00 - $228,000.00
Pay Type : Salaried
The above represents BMO Financial Group's pay range and type. Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group's total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
