Network Security Engineer

Location : Washington, DC - Hybrid (Three [3] days on-site, two [2] telework days after 30-45 days on-site)

Clearance Requirement : U.S. Citizen with SECRET or higher clearance

Salary Range : $125k - $135k

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Network Security Engineer to join our growing team in Washington, DC. This full-time role supports an ongoing federal government contract and plays a critical role in protecting and strengthening enterprise systems.

Due to the secure nature of this agency, all candidates must be U.S. citizens and possess an active SECRET or higher clearance . Telework eligibility will be determined based on customer policy and contract requirements after an initial on-site period.

The successful candidate will receive a contingent offer pending the outcome of a government background check. This process may take several weeks, and employment cannot begin until the background check is successfully completed.

What You'll Do

As a Network Security Engineer, you will design, develop, and implement comprehensive security solutions - including computer security, scalable architectures, advanced analytics, and network / data center operations - while specializing in local and enterprise-level incident response.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Provide real-time monitoring and situational awareness of security events, executing first-tier incident response and escalation in accordance with established policies.
  • Manage and maintain operating system-related tools, including user management, Windows / Linux patching, database management, Tenable Security Center , and Cloudflare .
  • Deploy, maintain, and enhance Data Loss Prevention (DLP) capabilities to safeguard Personally Identifiable Information (PII) per organizational policy.
  • Manage and monitor organizational web applications and enforce web security best practices.
  • Collaborate with security vendors and stakeholders to implement and maintain infrastructure such as firewalls, antivirus, intrusion detection / prevention systems , and related tools.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability scans and assessments , coordinating remediation with ISSOs and vendors.
  • Enforce end-user device threat containment and access control using network security technologies.
  • Evaluate and implement new security tools to strengthen overall cybersecurity posture.
  • Maintain enterprise dashboards for situational awareness of cyber threats, events, and incidents to aid in decision-making and prioritization.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to forward log data from multiple sources (firewalls, packet captures, web proxies, intrusion detection, malware analysis) using CRIBL .

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in security engineering, incident response, or security posture management.
  • Demonstrated experience with technologies including :

  • SentinelOne
  • Splunk
  • Endpoint Management
  • Identity and Access Management
  • Intrusion Detection & Prevention
  • Patch Management (Windows and Unix)
  • EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response)
  • Web Security / Web Content Filtering
  • Vulnerability Scanning and Assessment Tools
  • Firewall and VPN
  • Secure Email and Email Filtering
  • Synack
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, security-driven environment .
  • Preferred Certification :

  • CompTIA Security+ ce (or higher-level security certification)
