Our enterprise client has an immediate opening for a hybrid contract position for an experienced Automation Engineer. Candidate will have solid expertise in Powershell scripting and automation.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop a custom management interface for Computer Operations, leveraging the OpCon REST API to streamline daily operational workflows and expose only relevant functions to operators.
• Collaborate with Operations and Automation Engineering teams to identify required functionality, optimize usability, and ensure operational safety and access control within custom tools.
• Refactor, modernize, and optimize the existing DokuWiki platform, including upgrade planning, code remediation, and migration of custom extensions or integrations.
• Improve performance, maintainability, and security of custom DokuWiki code through structured testing, modularization, and adherence to software engineering best practices.
• Develop APIs and utility scripts that connect internal systems, facilitating data access, automation triggers, and reporting capabilities for business and operations teams.
• Contribute to shared codebases, documentation, and internal libraries, ensuring reusability and consistency across automation and tooling efforts.
• Prototype and deliver internal tools that enhance visibility into orchestration processes, system health, and predictive performance metrics.
• Participate in code reviews and collaborative design sessions, providing input on architecture, performance, and operational reliability.

Qualifications

Background in Computer Science / Engineering with 10+ years of experience.

Bachelor's Degree Preferred But Not Required

Knowledge of programming in Windows using Visual Studio, including Visual Basic, C++, C#, Java, .NET programming and ASP.NET.

Knowledge of SQL Programming in Oracle and SQL Server.

Scripting using PowerShell and Windows Batch.

Knowledge of OpCon or similar IT Process Automation software very helpful.

Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Platforms.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products.

Great organizational skills (able to handle multiple priorities).

Strong skills in gathering requirements, analysis, design and implementation of tasks assigned.

Willingness to learn new technologies, computer languages and programs.

Results oriented with excellent problem solving skills.

Detail oriented with clear communication skills
