The Nielsen Eye Center is dedicated to providing our patients with the most advanced technology and the most experienced Lasik and cataract surgeons with locations in Quincy, Norwell, Norwood and Weymouth.
The Nielsen Eye Center is seeking Ophthalmic technicians to join our patient care team. The ideal candidates are certified ophthalmic assistant (COA) or certified ophthalmic technician (COT). However, we are willing to provide on the job training and experience to the right candidate as they work toward certification.
As an Ophthalmic Technician in our state-of-the-art practice, you will need to:
Provide primary ophthalmic care to patients and act as clinical assistant to physician.
Perform complete ophthalmic history and preliminary exams, verifies patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visit. Accurately records all information in EMR system according to established standards and physician requirements.
Performs tests: VF test, A-Scan Biometry, Pachymetry, Corneal Topography, OCT, Spec-microscopy, Optos, Tear function testing.
Checks condition of patients' eyes by observing pupils, muscle, visual acuity, extraocular movements.
Prepares patients for ophthalmology examination by obtaining visual acuity, refracting (Jackson Cross), dilating pupils, elevated extraocular pressure.
Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures along with complying with legal regulations (HIPPA).
Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and promptly reporting equipment issues.
Reviews patient communications, process prescription refill requests, monitors technician line.
Performs set standard number of patient work-ups based on established times while maintaining quality of customer service.
Assists in keeping stock in exam room in accordance to standard inventory and Physician preferences.
Sets up and prep for minor OR procedures to include setting sterile tray and maintaining sterile field.
Ability to work in a team setting and achieve team goals.
Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.

Schedule:
Monday and Friday 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Tuesday 10:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday and Thursday 8:30a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Saturday (Occasional) 8-12
