Mechanical / Structural Engineer II

The Mechanical / Structural Engineer II designs, specifies, and documents the structural framework and mechanical systems for set pieces, props, and puppets used in all Sight & Sound productions while collaborating with other departments to accommodate their functional requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• As a part of our production process, engage in conceptual, model, drawing and framing reviews, incorporating the required information discussed into each design.
• Design, layout and create the construction and fabrication documentation using SolidWorks to support fabrication efforts ensuring all departmental requirements have been captured and clearly communicated.
• Collaborate with the Automation / Electronics Designers to ensure the electromechanical integration meets the functional requirements of the set piece.
• Support overhead rigging and / or facilities related projects and work with outside vendors to get quotes or manage projects.
