A powerful and resourceful environment that includes hand papermaking and printmaking studios, the Brodsky Center at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) is a nationally recognized residency program that invites artists to create new work in collaboration with master printers and papermakers.

Since its founding in 1986, the Brodsky Center has been a leader in advancing equity and innovation in the arts-engaging artists of color, women artists, and other underrepresented communities. To date, the Center has produced over 660 complex editions with 372 artists , including Jonathan Lyndon Chase, Chitra Ganesh, Sam Gilliam, Sharon Hayes, Barkley L. Hendricks, William Kentridge, Pepón Osorio, Nell Painter, Miriam Schapiro, Kiki Smith, Pat Steir, June Wayne, and Didier William , among others.

Position Summary

The Brodsky Center Art Sales Associate drives sales and cultivates client relationships that advance the Brodsky Center's artistic and financial goals. Reporting to the Director of the Brodsky Center, this role is both strategic and hands-on-developing opportunities for art sales across private collectors, institutions, and online platforms while ensuring the highest professional and ethical standards in art commerce.

The successful candidate will combine deep knowledge of the art market with enthusiasm for artists and contemporary artmaking, managing sales operations from introduction through fulfillment, and serving as an ambassador for the Brodsky Center's editions.

Key Responsibilities

Achieve annual revenue goals established by senior leadership.

Represent PAFA externally through confident, professional, and sales-driven engagement.

Build and maintain relationships with collectors, curators, galleries, and art institutions.

Promote and sell Brodsky Center editions through in-person interactions, art fairs, private viewings, and digital platforms.

Maintain knowledge of available inventory and keep current on market trends and art events.

Manage all sales processes, including invoicing, payment processing, packing, and shipping.

Generate accurate and timely financial and sales reports.

Participate in one or two week-long art fairs annually, overseeing installation and sales.

Collaborate with the Museum Store, School, and Development teams to support cross-departmental sales initiatives.

Oversee artwork sales related to the Annual Student Exhibition (ASE) -including online platforms, buyer communications, and coordination with staff for fulfillment.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Art, Art History, Museum Studies, Studio Art , or a related field.

Minimum 2 years of experience in art sales-galleries, fairs, or direct collector engagement.

Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed revenue goals.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with attention to detail.

Knowledge of the contemporary art market and ability to discuss artworks confidently with clients.

Understanding of ethical and professional standards in art sales.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, and comfort with digital tools such as MailChimp, WordPress, Retail Pro, and social media platforms.

Skillful handling of artworks and awareness of proper care and procedures.

Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, and travel for art fairs or events.
