Management Aide / Analyst
The San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments (SGVCOG) is a regional government planning agency that aims to maximize the quality of life in the San Gabriel Valley. We are a joint powers authority consisting of 31 incorporated cities and unincorporated communities in Los Angeles County Supervisorial Districts 1 and 5. The SGVCOG is in the San Gabriel Valley of Southern California. Applicants considered for this role must currently live in Southern California or be willing to relocate. The agency does not contribute to relocation or commute costs.
The SGVCOG is seeking to fill one full-time position in the Executive Department. The incumbent will support Governing Board operations, including working with elected officials, and a broad range of agency initiatives under the direction of the Senior Advisor to the Executive Director. This position will provide analytical and administrative support across multiple programs and projects within the SGVCOG, with a particular focus on transportation and mobility-focused programs. The ideal candidate will have a high level of professionalism, analytical skills, political sensitivity, and a passion for public policy and administration.

- Attend and provide administrative support to agency committee meetings; prepare meeting materials, organize, and schedule speakers and events; oversee or keep minutes and records of policy committees in accordance with the Brown Act; track status of action items; ensure maintenance of committee records and dissemination of all formal actions including minutes, records, and data.
- Implement program goals, objectives, and priorities; analyze and review budgets; prepare contract components; conduct studies and surveys; review and summarize data to evaluate the effectiveness of current programs; make recommendations on program enhancements; prepare staff reports; make recommendations to aid in solving difficult regional issues.
- Represent the SGVCOG and its programs and projects at community events and with other organizations, member cities, special interest groups, state and local governments, elected officials, and the public; establish and maintain agency relations; promote the agency's mission and goals.
- Perform program-specific administrative support, including : coordinate with cities and consultants for the continuation of the Vehicle-Miles Traveled program, which supports California Environmental Quality Act regulations, with the goal of analyzing greenhouse gas emission impacts created by certain types of development; perform city outreach, budgeting, quarterly reporting, and application materials to support the agency's Measure M Subregional grant program, which awards funding to local transportation projects.
- Prepare charts, graphics, flyers, and illustrations for presentations; perform desktop publishing to produce newsletters, brochures, forms, mailers and other department publications; post public hearing notices as assigned; write, edit and design articles for SGVCOG publications, newsletters, websites and press releases.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of :

Management Aide :
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in public administration, government, political science, urban planning, or a closely related field.A minimum cumulative 12 months of experience perform administrative, legislative, financial, or analytical work in a public sector setting.Management Analyst :
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in public administration, government, political science, urban planning, or a closely related field; a master's degree is highly desirable.A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience performing administrative, legislative, financial, or analytical work in a public sector setting. Experience must demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects, perform independent research, and support policy development or operational programs.At least one year of direct experience supporting or coordinating policy or advisory committees, including preparing agendas, meeting materials, and formal records in accordance with the Brown Act.Preferred : Experience in local government or regional agency settings is highly desirable.
