The Wealth Management Internship at Cary Street Partners offers students hands-on experience across multiple areas of financial advising, planning, relationship management, operations, and investment management. The program is designed to provide exposure to the firm’s day-to-day functions and investment philosophy while supporting the professional development of future financial advisors. The internship is full-time (up to 40 hours per week), with weekly hours varying based on project needs.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Duties
- Participate in investment committee meetings and equity research discussions.
- Stay informed on financial markets by regularly reviewing financial publications and financial news.
- Complete training on operational software, provide feedback on best practices, and apply skills in practical settings.
- Assist with new client onboarding, account updates, and data management.
- Shadow team members to learn about trade execution and service requests.
- Collaborate with client service associates, advisors, analysts, and operations personnel to understand different roles within the firm.
- Contribute to investment research and analysis aligned with the firm’s philosophy and process.
- Support client meeting preparation, financial planning, and annual review processes.
- Engage in special projects as assigned.
- Develop and present a customized internship project to the team at program completion.
- Skills &Experience
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (3.0 GPA or higher).
- Coursework aligned with Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) preparation strongly preferred.
- Previous financial services experience a plus, but not required.
