Job description

Overview

CBS is building a dynamic AR / VR Weather storytelling environment. We are looking for a leader with a background in weather, software engineering, and graphic arts to lead a team creating the next generation of immersive weather presentation. The ideal candidate can speak climate science, software coding, and graphic design to a multi-disciplined team. The end unified product will be used by CBS News and Stations. We are open to considering the office location for this position at any of our CBS O&O stations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team creating immersive weather presentation in AR / VR environments.
  • Train a team of meteorologists on presenting weather forecasting and explainers in AR / VR.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on the end product for CBS News and Stations.
  • Manage projects and coordinate across disciplines (meteorology, software engineering, graphic design).
  • Act as a brand ambassador for CBS News and Stations.

Qualifications

  • B.S. Degree or equivalent experience in Meteorology or Earth Sciences, Graphic Arts, and / or Software Engineering.
  • Proficient in weather graphics production.
  • Background in broadcast news and / or streaming.
  • At least 5 years of experience in weather presentation.
  • An understanding of meteorology or related science; experience with graphic design for broadcast and digital platforms.
  • Proficiency in software engineering and coding; knowledge of WSI and / or Baron weather systems (preferred).
  • Experience in augmented reality and virtual production; experience in project management; ability to manage a team with a range of skills.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record to operate a company vehicle.

    • Additional Information

    Hiring Salary Range : $200,000.00 - 220,000.00. The hiring salary range applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay depends on factors including geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, disability benefits, tuition assistance, and PTO or as otherwise dictated by applicable collective bargaining agreements. This position is bonus eligible.
