PROJECT MANAGER - Water & Wastewater Treatment Sector (W / WWTP)
JOB PURPOSE
The Project Manager (PM) is the lead administrative person on the project. The PM is primarily responsible for project start-up, scheduling, billing, contract interpretation, contract claims, subcontractor dispute resolution, submittals, extra work pricing, cost control, and financial reporting. The PM is also the lead planner on the project conducting regular meetings to review past, present, and future costs.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the development of project schedule ensuring that all projects are delivered on time, within the scope, and within budget
- Supervise project buyout with the estimator
- Perform and oversee submittals and the RFI process
- Lead planning meetings & attend progress meetings
- Create an agenda for planning and progress meetings
- Execute the cost to complete reports
- Review proposed subcontractor and vendor payments
Analyze subcontractor billings
Maintain logs as needed - Change orders, field orders, submittal, RFI's, change conditions, delays, etc.Track material used on the jobCollaborates with the Vice President of Project Management to effectively manage projectsWorks with Estimating to develop accurate cost proposals and estimated cost reports for submission to the ownerCoordinate payments with lower-tier vendors and subcontractorsMentor and train Assistant Project Managers and Project EngineersParticipation in a professional trade groupQUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATIONBachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field
PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONRegistered Professional Engineer (preferred)
EXPERIENCE5-10 years of experience as an Assistant Project Manager or Project Engineer
5+ years in heavy civil construction with W / WWTP experienceREQUIREMENTS / COMPETENCIESKnowledge of W / WWTP construction and systems, including mechanical, electrical, and integration systems
Ability to manage medium size projectsStrong negotiation skillsComprehension of the cost to complete the process, project financial reporting, and project minority goalsKnowledge of contract documents and contract-specific dispute resolution proceduresLeadership and management skills, including the ability to make decisions with integrityExperience dealing with subcontractors and vendorsProficient written & verbal skills, attention to detailProficient in Microsoft Office Suite, P6, and Viewpoint softwareProactive, self-motivating, problem solverPOSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position, and the work week for employees is normally considered 40 hours Monday through Friday. Flexibility is required to support time-sensitive issues as they arise. However, greater emphasis is placed on meeting the responsibilities assigned to this position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a non-smoking office. Work conditions are primarily indoors; however, fieldwork and travel are a significant portion of the role. Overnight stays can be expected depending on the project and / or business demands.
