Nurse Practitioner Cardiology - PRN

General Nature of Duties :

This position is only on an as needed basis. With the collaboration and guidance of the physicians, the certified registered nurse practitioner (CRNP) assists in assessing, planning, diagnosing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating care provided to patients within legal realm established by the Alabama State Board of Nursing within a hospital setting.

The individual in this role will be required to work a minimum of 30 hours per month plus every 4th weekend as needed.

Specific Job Duties & Responsibilities :

The certified registered nurse practitioner provides healthcare to patients in a hospital setting in accordance with his / her knowledge base, experience, competence, and within the scope of practice defined by the Alabama State Board of Nursing

• Perform comprehensive health histories and physicals, discharge summaries, documents daily progress notes, transfer summaries, procedural notes, physical, mental, developmental, and functional status
• Orders pertinent diagnostic studies
• Analyze patient data to determine health status and formulates diagnosis
• Evaluates effectiveness of care continually and modifies plans of care based on evaluation and patient responses
• Make rounds daily on assigned patients as follows :
• Before the attending physician "" to compile objective data
• With the physician - to actively convey suggested plan and participate in the health care team
• After the physician "" to assess newly derived data or changes in the patient"'s condition

Documentation / Records / Billing

Document subjective, objective, assessed clinical finings, as well as planned therapies in medical progress notes so that all members of the health care team may treat holistically.

Document pertinent information for the physician concerning the projected plan of care for the patient in EMR.

• Complete all necessary and required documentation for each patient encounter.
• Complete medical records generated in a timely and accurate manner.
• Provide / Submit pertinent information to clerical personnel concerning billing for services rendered by the physician and nurse practitioner.
• Schedule follow up appointment with physician in clinic.

Qualifications / Requirement for the Position

• Graduate of accredited schools of nursing
• Current licensure by the Alabama State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse
• Satisfactory completion of a formal education program preparing graduated to practice advanced practice nursing.
• A minimum of a Master"'s Degree with concentration in the respective nursing specialty area
• Current Licensure by the Alabama State Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Nurse
• Cardiac experience a plus
