Position Overview Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston’s Marketing & Communications team is raising the bar for storytelling. Our small, tight-knit team works collaboratively toward big, ambitious outcomes, with a focus on growing as professionals and getting the most out of the skills each team member brings. The Marketing and Social Media Manager orchestrates an essential component of BGCB’s digital strategy : delivering first impressions of our brand that are not only memorable, but inspirational.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Digital Marketing Strategy and Execution : Formulate a data-driven social media strategy in collaboration with team and organizational leadership that is grounded in present-day social media best practices and has flexibility to adapt to emerging trends and directions that the industry evolves towards.
Devise a content mix that serves each of BGCB’s key audiences, telling impactful stories, providing valuable resources, and positioning the organization as a hub for impact in the community.
Create and maintain a structured content calendar for each digital platform that incorporates key messaging with consideration to organizational happenings, current events, and seasonal events.
Build and maintain a community on social media channels by actively finding relevant accounts to follow and engage with to solidify relationships.
Lead BGCB’s Communication Ambassadors Program by facilitating relationships with each of the organization’s nine site liaisons to ensure continuous posting across all independently managed content that is consistent with organizational brand standards and messaging.
Provide on-site coverage of events during business hours, evenings, and weekends as needed.
Identify and execute on strategic projects that will move BGCB’s social media strategy forward.
Maintain a monthly reporting process that captures key performance indicators, provides a strong basis for decision making, and can be easily understood by senior leaders in the organization.
Branding and Messaging
Implement marketing standards and protocols, including brand guidelines and messaging, into all content created.
Keep up with community news and trends related to the space BGCB operates in, and bring a fresh perspective and insights into team brainstorming meetings.
Organizational Support
Maintain a master events calendar in partnership with Events and site leadership teams.
Step in to support other team members with projects as needed.
Qualifications
Required
BA / BS in Marketing, Communications or related subject.
Must have a passion for BGCB’s mission.
Commitment to General BGCB Expectations : healthy behavior modeling, inclusive environment, continuous learning, safe spaces.
Excellent writing and editing skills in all media platforms, including clear, persuasive writing style.
Exceptional interpersonal communications skills with the ability to work with all BGCB constituencies including Board members, leadership, Club staff members, families and youth.
Exceptional project management skills and organizational skills, including the ability to follow through on assignments and meet deadlines, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Flexibility and confident ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Proven ability to work within an organization emphasizing teamwork and excellence as well as successfully working individually.
Graphic design experience and proficiency with technology required, including MS Office, Outlook, Adobe Creative Suite (including InDesign, PhotoShop), MailChimp, and Wordpress.
Willingness to work evenings and weekends as event and project deadlines dictate.
Valid driver’s license required, ability to visit BGCB locations as needed (either via public transportation or ZipCar).
Preferred or Ideal
Full-time professional experience as a generalist in Marketing; event support experience.
Travel
Local travel to Clubs 3-4 times / month for events / activities (varies week to week).
Occasional travel to annual BGCA conference.
Location
Downtown Office.
Salary & Benefits Salary (Grade 7) - commensurate with experience; along with competitive benefits and a great work environment.
