Position Summary
The Clinical Manager (Nurse Manager of Emergency Services) is responsible for the day-to-day provision of patient care within the Emergency Department. This role includes oversight of clinical operations, management of departmental staff, and close collaboration with the medical team. The Manager also plays an active role in community education and serves as a departmental resource and leader.
Essential Core Functions
- Participate actively in department and hospital committees; ensure staff involvement where appropriate.
- Assess needs for and assist with the implementation of staff development and education programs.
- Assume administrative responsibility for services provided during the designated shift in collaboration with management team members.
- Assist the Department Director with staff scheduling and resource allocation.
- Provide direct and ongoing supervision of staff regarding conflict resolution, compliance with personnel policies, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
- Collaborate with preceptors to support onboarding and integration of new employees.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of nursing practices, procedures, and equipment relevant to emergency services.
- Ensure timely reporting and resolution of maintenance and repair issues.
- Oversee completion of all required quality checks and documentation, including crash cart, refrigerator / freezer temperatures, and other unit-specific indicators.
- Implement active case management and patient care coordination within the department.
- Assist with clinical procedures as needed.
- Perform data collection and analysis to support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve care delivery, workflow efficiency, and patient outcomes through performance improvement processes.
Required Qualifications
Experience : 3 5 years of recent acute care Emergency Department leadership experience (within the past year).Education :Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma from an accredited institution required.
Must be enrolled in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.Licensure :Current Florida RN license or appropriate compact state licensure.
If holding a compact license from another state, an active Florida RN compact license must be obtained within 90 days of hire.Advanced Nurse Practitioner license acceptable.Certifications :American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS / BCLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.
