Job Title : Mechanical Engineering Technical Leader
Job Summary :
We are seeking an experienced and innovative Mechanical Engineering Technical Leader to design and deliver next-generation compute and networking products. In this highly technical role, you will lead the mechanical design of complex electro-mechanical assemblies, working collaboratively across hardware, CAD, thermal, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure mechanical integrity, performance, and manufacturability.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead the design and development of advanced chassis and card-level mechanical systems for compute / networking equipment.
- Perform detailed 2D and 3D tolerance stack-up analysis using spreadsheets and tools such as CETol.
- Create and maintain 3D CAD models and detailed mechanical drawings using Creo or NX, applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
- Develop mechanical solutions using materials like sheet metal, plastic, and die-cast components that meet EMI, thermal, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, signal integrity, CAD, thermal, and manufacturing) to define requirements and evaluate trade-offs.
- Partner with thermal engineers to design efficient cooling solutions.
- Provide guidance to manufacturing teams and suppliers to resolve design, fabrication, and assembly issues.
- Mentor junior mechanical engineers and provide technical leadership across the project lifecycle.
- Drive engineering change orders (ECO), BOM creation, and deviation processes.
- Ensure design for manufacturability (DFM), cost-efficiency, and production scalability.
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.8-12 years of experience in mechanical design within the EMS, compute, or networking domains.Proven expertise in using 3D MCAD tools (Creo or NX).Strong knowledge of static and dynamic analysis using tools like Creo Simulate or ANSYS.Expert in GD&T, tolerance analysis, and statistical evaluation.Extensive experience designing sheet metal parts for high-volume manufacturing.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Effective communication and leadership skills.Preferred Qualifications :
Experience designing mechanical systems for data center-grade compute / networking products.Familiarity with tooling and design for plastic injection molding and die-casting.Mechanism design experience is a plus.Hands-on experience with Agile PLM, ECOs, BOM, and deviation management.Familiarity with PDMLink or TeamCenter.Experience in Model-Based Definition (MBD) practices.A team-oriented attitude, with a willingness to listen, collaborate, and contribute toward a shared goal.
