JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW :
The Institute for Women’s Policy Research (IWPR) is seeking a Communications Manager to serve as the organization’s press secretary and digital storytelling contributor. Reporting to the Vice President of Communications and External Affairs, this role blends traditional media relations with modern digital strategy—elevating IWPR’s research and leadership in the press while driving fresh, creative engagement across social platforms.
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated and strategic communicator with strong media relationships, excellent writing skills, and proven experience creating compelling content for digital audiences. They will pitch IWPR to top-tier reporters, develop sharp press materials, and also manage the organization’s digital presence with innovative social campaigns, eye-catching visuals, and trend-driven storytelling.
This is a full-time exempt position located in Washington, DC.

SALARY
This is a hybrid, full-time exempt position. The salary for the Communications Manager role is $69,768 to $87,210 and will be commensurate with experience. Covid-19 Vaccination Policy
IWPR has made the safety of our staff and our surrounding community a top priority. As part of that commitment, IWPR recently implemented a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy. This policy states that all IWPR employees, interns, fellows, (i.e.- IWPR staff) are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and to receive a booster shot. IWPR will require selected candidates to submit proof of complete vaccination against COVID-19 and having received a booster shot prior to extending a job offer. If a candidate has a qualifying medical condition that contraindicates a Covid-19 vaccination, a medical exemption form should be requested from Human Resources by email at humanresources@iwpr.org .
