Your Role : As the Vice President of Communications, you will report directly to the SVP of Corporate Affairs. Your leadership will be crucial in executing a comprehensive communications strategy that bolsters Drax's reputation and enhances stakeholder engagement across North America.
We are looking for an outstanding communications leader with a strong network and experience in navigating the media landscape in major North American markets. You will play a key role in shaping media coverage that aligns with Drax's values and mission. Additionally, you should be proactive in managing issues and safeguarding the organization's operational license in a regulated industry.
Key Responsibilities :
- Media Relations & External Engagement : Build and maintain relationships with journalists and stakeholders, act as a spokesperson, and lead storytelling initiatives showcasing Drax's purpose and sustainability commitments.
- Reputation & Issues Management : Provide strategic guidance in sensitive situations, anticipate reputational risks, and develop transparent responses.
- Internal Communications : Create engaging internal communications that align employees with company goals and foster an inclusive culture.
- Project & Program Management : Effectively manage multiple communication projects, ensuring timely and collaborative delivery.
- Financial & Vendor Management : Oversee budgets efficiently, managing relationships with agencies and vendors for optimal performance.
Who You Are :
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field (Master's preferred).Proven experience in media relations, internal, and digital communications.Strong background in strategy development that engages diverse audiences.15+ years of experience in regulated industries such as energy or sustainability.Established media relationships and experience as a senior spokesperson.Experienced in managing teams, budgets, and external partnerships.Strategic thinker with a talent for storytelling and simplification of complex topics.Inclusive and collaborative leader who values diverse perspectives.Passionate about sustainability and purpose-driven communication.Organized and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.Special Features :
