Senior Director Of Policy Communications & Engagement Strategy
The ASPCA is seeking a Senior Director of Policy Communications & Engagement Strategy to join our Communications team. This highly collaborative, mission-driven group works across the organization to advance the ASPCA's federal and state policy agenda.
The Senior Director of Policy Communications & Engagement Strategy reports directly to the Vice President, External Communications and initially has no direct reports. The Senior Director will play a vital centralized, cross-functional role within the ASPCA's Communications Department, integrating earned and social media, marketing communications, advocacy, and campaigns to support and advance the organization's federal and state policy agenda in collaboration with Government Relations, Legal Advocacy and Investigations, campaign teams including Farm Animal Welfare and Equine Welfare, and other policy-involved teams.
The Senior Director will serve as the key point person on Communications, playing an essential strategic role overseeing the day-to-day communications work connected to the ASPCA's advocacy goals, where strong leadership and decision making is critical. They will work across communications functions to identify and suggest compelling narratives that can be used to develop content connecting the ASPCA's direct care work to its policy objectives, helping to advance ASPCA policy goals and enabling the organization to better communicate compelling stories and victories.
This position is based in the DC Metro area and requires at least one day a week in the DC office and some travel to New York City, various state capitols, and elsewhere. Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% annually as needed.
The target hiring range is based on where the employee works, which for remote roles is the employee's primary location of residence, and its respective cost of labor. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of factors, including but not limited to education, training, experience, location, business needs, internal equity, market demands or budgeted amount for the role. The target hiring range is for new hire offers only, and compensation may increase beyond the maximum hiring range based on performance over time. The maximum of the hiring range is reserved for candidates with the highest qualifications and relevant experience.

Zone 3 : $150,000 - $160,000
