Solar Construction Superintendent
Location : Field-Based Travel Role 100% Travel Required Regions : Upstate NY, Denver, Midwest, and other U.S. locations
Job Overview : We are seeking a Solar Construction Superintendent to lead on-site operations for community solar projects ranging from 1 to 10 megawatts (MW). This field-based role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of civil, mechanical, and electrical construction to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. The Superintendent will manage field crews and subcontractors, uphold quality and safety standards, and serve as the primary on-site contact for project stakeholders. This position requires extensive travel and a valid driver's license.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead daily field operations, including supervision of subcontractors and vendors.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to develop and maintain project schedules, including 24 week look-ahead plans.
- Coordinate logistics for materials, equipment, and deliveries to ensure timely availability.
- Monitor labor productivity and manage costs to maintain budget compliance.
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA and company policies.
- Conduct daily safety briefings and job hazard analyses.
- Perform quality inspections and ensure adherence to design specifications and the Quality Management System.
- Act as the on-site liaison for project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and utility inspectors.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, logs, and site photos.
- Participate in project and subcontractor meetings to coordinate progress and resolve issues.
Required Skills & Experience :
58 years of experience in solar or general construction, with 24 years in a supervisory role.Strong knowledge of civil, mechanical, and electrical construction practices.Familiarity with PV system components, racking systems, and grounding techniques.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications.Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid).Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification (required).Preferred Qualifications :
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field.First Aid / CPR certification.NABCEP PV Installation Professional Certification.Electrical license.Compensation & Incentives :
