The Quality Engineer is responsible for organizing and advancing quality control activities of engineered products being manufactured in the United States and other countries where Elessent fabricates products. This will include work being done at fabricator's workshops, raw material suppliers, as well as monitoring of Third-Party contractors at the jobsite during installation, maintenance, or repair, when required. Work to be focused near, but not limited to, the Kansas City, MO area. Remote locations near an airport are preferred.
Position Responsibilities (including, but not limited to) :
- Represent and push Elessent's requirements for quality.
- Coordinate with the global inspection manager and project managers to organize the pre-inspection meetings, understand and explain the Company's specification details to the Fabricators and Contractors prior to start of projects.
- Review and approve documentation submitted by Fabricators or Contractors, which include WPS, PQR, NDE procedures, etc.
- Organize Engineered Products' inspections based on ITP and the Elessent Equipment Inspection Matrix.
- Manage, qualify, and coordinate the Third-Party Inspector's inspection activities when a Third-Party Contractor is used.
- Inspect fabrication of equipment and installation work onsite and verify that the equipment meets the requirements of the purchase order and associated specifications and submit report.
- Perform qualification of the Fabricator's welding program or Contractors for on-site work.
- Monitor the Contractors' performance in respect of quality & safety during installation, maintenance, or repair onsite.
- Report to Elessent Project Manager and their Supervisor in case of deviations and non-conformance from specification; Communication between Company's specialist in U.S. and contractors to take corrective measures and follow up the corrective actions.
- Coordinate with fabricator's quality management when necessary for pressure vessel & pressure piping.
- Participate in prequalification and coordinate Company's qualification shop survey for new Fabricators, Manufacturers or Contractors qualification.
- Submit required inspection documentation to responsible Elessent Project Manager and their Supervisor after each inspection activity.
- Prepare and issue a Monthly Report for Quality Issues as well as product fabrication and inspection status for the projects in the Region to their Supervisor.
- Inspect and monitor raw material quality at supplier's facility or company warehouse sites.
Qualifications & Skill Requirements :
The individual ideally will meet the following requirements :
Consistent attention to detail when performing inspections.Must be assertive and willing to enforce the Company project requirements with Fabricators, Manufacturers, and ContractorsBachelor's degree in Welding, Mechanical Engineering, or Metallurgy is recommended. Equivalent experience required.CWI certificate is required.Current or previous NDE level II or above certificates for various NDE methodsMinimum 10 years of QC inspection experience in the oil, natural gas, or chemical industry.10 years' experience with projects involving foreign investors in various world areas with respect to quality control of welding & NDEa plus.In-depth knowledge of ASME, NBIC, ASNT, AWS, API codes and standards, preferred.Knowledge of European, Chinese and / or other fabrication standards a plus.Familiarity with mechanical inspection and testing methods.Good communication skills at all levels within an organizationShall be a pro-active self-starter and open for continuous improvement.Willing to travel on a relatively frequent basis, both domestic and international.Experience in semi-automatic orbital TIG tubes to tube-sheet welding a plus.Positions are open to candidates authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
