Friendship Collegiate Academy builds scholars ready for the rigors and rewards of college. By immersing students in a collegiate environment that provides early exposure to college-level courses and experiences, Collegiate achieves some of the highest graduation and college acceptance rates in the Washington area.Collegiate's roadmap to student success includes 16 College Board Advanced Placement courses among four rigorous career academies that encourage self-discovery and a mastery of core academic content : Early College, Information Technology and Engineering, Fine Arts, and Health Sciences.Our Early College Academy, the first such program at a public charter high school in the city, offers highly motivated students the opportunity to earn up to two years' college credit before graduation. Friendship Public Charter School operates a dynamic network of college-preparatory charter schools headquartered in Washington, DC. We proudly serve more than 4,800 preschool through 12th-grade students and support a growing network of alumni as they complete college. Our mission is to provide students with a world-class education that fosters ethical, literate, well-rounded, and self-sufficient individuals. We aim to inspire students to reach high academic standards, enjoy the learning process, succeed in their endeavors, and contribute actively to their communities. The Director of Early College will lead the strategic planning, implementation, and daily operations of the Early College program. The Director will ensure high-quality delivery of college-level coursework to high school students, foster strong partnerships with higher education institutions, and promote student success through comprehensive academic and social supports.

Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Development :

  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for the Early College program, aligned with FCA's mission and academic goals.
  • Oversee program operations, including course selection, scheduling, enrollment, and assessment.
  • Coordinate with college partners to align curriculum standards and dual enrollment opportunities.
  • Evaluate and enhance curriculum offerings, including AP and Honors courses, to ensure college readiness.

Student Success & Support :

  • Promote early exposure to college-level coursework beginning in the ninth grade.
  • Develop systems for academic counseling, advising, and support services tailored to Early College students.
  • Work closely with alumni affairs staff to ensure ongoing support for graduates attending college.
  • Monitor and analyze student progress toward earning college credits and / or an associate's degree.
  • Partnership & Collaboration :

  • Build and maintain partnerships with higher education institutions and local organizations.
  • Collaborate with Career Academy leaders to integrate specialized training with Early College pathways.
  • Engage families and the broader community to promote understanding and support of the Early College program.
  • Leadership & Management :

  • Supervise Early College program staff, including counselors, academic advisors, and faculty liaisons.
  • Provide professional development and training to ensure high-quality teaching and advising practices.
  • Manage the Early College program budget and resources efficiently.
  • Extracurricular and Enrichment :

  • Support the development of extracurricular activities that complement academic experiences, such as robotics, performing arts, athletics, and the marching band.
  • Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Higher Education Administration, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in secondary or higher education administration, with at least 3 years of leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated success in building partnerships with colleges and universities.
  • Deep understanding of dual enrollment, early college models, and college-readiness best practices.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to educational equity and student achievement.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with first-generation college students.
  • Knowledge of AP, Honors, and Career Academy curriculum development.
  • Familiarity with charter school environments.
