American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with 3 years of recent neuro or CV ICU experience and current compact or AZ licensure for a Level 1 trauma setting.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at a Level 1 trauma center in an acute hospital settingCares for surgical, neuro, cardiac, and trauma patients over the age of 15Unit has 32 surgical ICU beds, a 36-bed medical / cardiac ICU, and a 12-bed overflow unitNurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 2 or 1 : 1, depending on acuityCommon cases include trauma, falls, gunshot wounds, car accidents, neuro-surgery, CVA, post-TPA, COVID, sepsis, ARDS, CABG, TAVR, IABP, ECMO, and esophagectomiesDrips titrated include propofol, fentanyl, versed, precedex, morphine, dilaudid, ketamine, rocuronium, levophed, vasopressin, cardene, labetalol, dopamine, dobutamine, heparin, and insulinVentilators and respiratory equipment include Dreager, Hamilton, Puritan Bennett 840, V60s BiPAP, and AirvoCerner EMR is used and proficiency is preferredSelf-scheduling with three weekend shifts required in a four-week schedule; may have one holiday off per assignmentFloat requirement between all three ICUs and to telemetry units, with ratios of 1 : 3 or 1 : 4 as neededRN is responsible for cardiac monitoring and strip interpretation (no monitor techs)Charge nurse is present but does not take patientsNo nurse aides, except for sitters and health unit secretary supportRNs are required to titrate multiple critical care drips and manage ventilators and advanced respiratory equipmentICU team includes 24 / 7 in-house hospitalist or intensivist and dedicated RT staffExpect skills validation for trauma, neuro, and specialty devices during orientationDress code is navy scrubsFirst-time travelers are welcome if all experience requirements are metMust successfully complete skills validation and pass all required testing or be ineligible for future consideration for six monthsHoliday coverage is expected as assigned during the contractMay float to sister facility (Mercy Gilbert) as needed\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact RN license in hand; pending licenses are not acceptedMinimum three years of recent ICU experience with at least two years in the ICU and experience in neuro or CV requiredCurrent ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications requiredMust provide two references : one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past three yearsMust pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (two attempts maximum)Pass / fail simulation lab required on first day of orientationDriver's license copy required for considerationCandidates must live at least 50 miles from the facilityNo full-time, part-time, or PRN employment with any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year\n Benefits\n
