Position Purpose
Design and develop industrial, domestic, and commercial systems. Striving for excellence, design engineers are innovative, detail-oriented, and analytical. They interact with clients, vendors, contractors, architects, and fellow engineers every day to produce required coordinated designs. Responsible for writing specifications, schematics, and diagrams, coordinated with the client's needs, codes and other disciplines. Performing feasibility studies for industrial, domestic, and commercial technical developments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate with team members to execute project scope, schedules, and budgets in conformance with the project and customer requirements.
Research codes, guidance, policies, procedures, processes, criteria, and federal laws and regulations in order to provide sound technical recommendations in writing.
Apply innovative technical principles, practices, and theories to the resolution of technical issues.
Perform field investigations, including the review of as-built drawings, to determine existing conditions, document findings, and provide a report to include written summary of observations, data collected, and photographs.
Coordinate with Government client, team members, leadership, project stakeholders, and various regulatory agencies.
Review technical reports, RFIs, designs, design changes for both design-build and design-bid-build projects, project deliverables, submittals, cost proposals from contractors, etc., to ensure compliance with customer and RFP requirements.
Provide technical support for the review of the commissioning plan, design and construction submittals, and field inspections.
Provide technical support for construction field activities.
Provide technical assistance for field investigations, witness testing, and commissioning efforts.
Prepare various permit applications and assist with calculations and report writing.
Documenting all project communications
Participate in site field investigations and client / user interviews to identify project needs, constraints and opportunities
Incorporate design concepts from schematic design into design development and work with project team to produce construction documents.
Use computer programs and spread sheets for engineering analysis and presentations.
Assist in the design, analysis, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems including piping, pressure vessels, HVAC, rotating equipment, and vacuum components.
Define cleaning, welding, and installation procedures to meet nuclear-grade purity standard and vacuum integrity requirements.
Contribute to safety reviews, risk mitigation / planning, and QA / QC documentation for critical mechanical systems.

Working Environment
Work generally conducted indoors in an office setting with occasional travel to project sites but may serve as a Field Engineer during construction. Occasional travel may be required.
