Responsibilities
The Office of Admissions is a unit within the Division of Enrollment Management, which is comprised of four distinct units : Office of Admissions , Office of the University Registrar , Office of Financial Aid , and Technology Operations. Enrollment Management’s integrated services provide distinctive support throughout the student's development and progression in their academic experience – from recruitment through commencement. Through collaboration, communication, and commitment, all units within Enrollment Management achieve the highest level of student-centered service to current and prospective students and families and to campus partners across the University.
The Director is responsible for operational management and administrative direction for visitor and guest services activities within the Office of Admissions.
Provides visionary leadership and operational management to enhance the overall guest experience and engagement with the University. Develops, implements, and evaluates strategies that foster meaningful connections between perspective students and their families, and all visitors to campus. Leads initiatives that ensure consistency in interactions across the University and creates positive experiences that lead to lasting relationships, encourages participation, and supports enrollment growth.
Oversees the design, development, and implementation of section goals, objectives, policies, and procedures with a focus on enhancing engagement and connection across the Office of Admissions. Leads the strategic planning and execution of on and off campus events for prospective and admitted students, and high school counselor events. Provides cross-departmental collaborations and serves as a subject matter expert in adopting innovative methodologies that strengthen visitor-facing initiatives, outreach, and relationship-building. Evaluates the effectiveness of departmental activities and initiatives, particularly those that influence guest engagement, and provides strategic recommendations to improve experience, participation, and long-term involvement with the University.
Leads the strategic planning and staffing responsibilities within the Welcome Center. Develops and implements strategies to enhance the visitor experience. Ensures the University is accessible and supportive to visitors. Establishes operation plans for new programs and activities while assessing and reconceptualizing existing models to improve operational efficiency to enhance the visitor experience.
Provides oversight of safety, facility operations, and visitor communications to ensure a positive and secure campus experience. In collaboration with FSU’s Emergency Management team, coordinated emergency management planning, including preparedness, response protocols, and staff training to maintain a safe environment for students, staff, and guests. Oversees daily building operations, ensuring proper maintenance, accessibility, and care of the facility. Ensures that all operational initiatives support a welcoming, safe, and well-managed environment aligned with the mission of the University.
Provides leadership and direction in policy and procedure development and implementation for all marketing and communication efforts within the Office of Admissions. Communicate and collaborate with internal and external partners as it impacts communication campaigns. Serves as liaison between the University and the division to ensure all materials / work conform to FSU's strategic plan.
Qualifications
Master’s degree and five years of experience in a related academic or student services field; or a Bachelor's degree and seven years of related experience. Two years of experience must be in a supervisory role.
