A growing healthcare and medical facility in the Baltimore, MD area seeks a qualified Medical Billing Specialist
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and submit medical claims to insurance companies and third-party payers (both electronic and paper submissions).
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to billing.
- Review medical records and codes for accuracy and compliance with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS guidelines.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims and resolve billing discrepancies with payers.
- Post payments, adjustments, and refunds accurately in the billing system.
- Maintain patient billing records and respond to patient inquiries regarding statements or balances.
- Collaborate with providers, clinical staff, and insurance representatives to resolve billing issues.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, payer policies, and federal / state regulations.
- Generate reports on accounts receivable, billing performance, and aging claims as requested.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or certification in medical billing / coding preferred.Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in medical billing, preferably in a healthcare or clinic setting.Working knowledge of medical terminology, insurance procedures, and healthcare reimbursement.Proficiency with billing software (e.g., Epic, Kareo, Athenahealth, AdvancedMD, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite.Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, national origin, age, ancestry, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, or military or veteran status.
