Please Note : Kern Community College District accepts applications for part-time, hourly faculty pools on a continuous basis. Applications submitted will remain active for up to two years. Kern Community College District is soliciting applications for part-time, hourly adjunct instructors. The starting salary range is $67.00 / hour; Hourly rate may vary based on type of assignment and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula. Representative Duties

The successful applicant will be expected to provide instruction in a full range of Art History courses.This assignment may include teaching at off-campus sites, day or evening classes, weekend classes, large classes, distant learning and multiple teaching methodologies. Other duties include : participation in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs for the Visual and Performing Arts department; maintaining subject matter currency; developing and revisingcurriculum; using computer and multimedia technology; collegial participation in departmental,college and discipline-specific professional activities.

This assignment is designed for using multiple teaching methodologies in our incarcerated student programs at the California City Correctional Facility and the Tehachapi California Correctional Institution. Classes may be large and take place on days, evenings, or weekends. Assignments will be contingent upon gaining proper clearance to work in a prison facility.

Minimum Qualifications

OR - Master's degree in Art with a recorded emphasis or concentration in Art History; OR - Possession of a valid credential, which authorizes the full-time teaching of Art at the California community college level; OR - The equivalent. Certain combinations of education, experience, and other accomplishments in the field may be judged as equal to the stated minimum qualifications for these positions. Candidates who feel they possess such equivalent qualifications must request and submit an APPLICATION FOR EQUIVALENCE form. Supporting documents must be included with the completed form. Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administration in California Community Colleges (NOTE : "Master's in fine arts" as used here refers to any master's degree in the subject matter of fine arts, which is defined to include visual studio arts such as drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, textiles, and metal and jewelry art; and also art education and art therapy. It does not refer to the "Master of Fine Arts" (MFA) degree when that degree is based on specialization in performing arts or dance, film, video, photography, creative writing or other non-plastic arts.)

AND - A demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Note : Degrees and credits must be from accredited institutions (Title V Section 53406). Any degree from a country other than the United States, including Canada and Great Britain, must be evaluated by an evaluation service.
