About Seton College :

Seton College is a new two-year college division of UMSV that will offer an associate’s degree for 100 students that have been historically underserved, who may require additional academic support, and who are motivated for post-secondary success annually beginning in the 2024–25 academic year. The program’s goal is to prepare students to enroll in a bachelor’s degree program or to begin their professional careers. Course Description : SPAN 101–102 :

This two-semester sequence (Spring 2026 will be the second semester) introduces the four foundational language skills—listening, speaking, reading, and writing—with a primary focus on oral communication and comprehension. The course also offers an introduction to the cultures of Spanish-speaking communities. It is intended for students with little or no prior knowledge of Spanish or up to two years of high school study.

SPAN 202 :

An intensive beginner–intermediate review course designed to strengthen listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Students will engage with a variety of audio and visual materials to enhance language proficiency. This is a two-semester sequence, with Spring 2026 serving as the second semester.

SPAN 223 :

A two-semester sequence (Spring 2026 will be the second semester) created for heritage speakers—students who grew up with some exposure to Spanish but lack formal language training. The course reviews grammar and vocabulary while building proficiency in reading and writing. It also deepens understanding of the culture and civilization of Spanish-speaking peoples.

Responsibilities :

Adjunct faculty will be responsible for classroom management, designing and teaching engaging class activities, and holding office hours with students.
