Washingtonian’s 100 Very Best Restaurants list. As we continue to build on this momentum, The Popal Group is seeking an experienced, passionate, and driven General Manager to lead Pascual into its next chapter of excellence.
Key Responsibilities :
Operations Management
- Oversee all daily operations of the restaurant and bar, ensuring smooth service in both front and back of house.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Oversee and manage inventory for food, wine, and bar supplies; maintain vendor relationships and ensure timely ordering and delivery.
- Ensure food, beverage, and service quality meet brand and operational standards.
Team Leadership & Staff Development
Lead, train, and motivate staff in-service. .Conduct staff performance reviews and provide regular coaching and development opportunities.Manage scheduling to ensure adequate coverage while optimizing labor costs.Recruit, hire, and onboard new team members in alignment with company culture and service standards.Ensure all staff are trained on the wine list, menu items, and service expectations to provide knowledgeable and personalized guest experiences.Customer Experience & Guest Relations
Create and maintain high standards of customer service, resolving guest concerns professionally and promptly.Build and maintain relationships with regular guests and create opportunities for personalized service.Host and coordinate special events such as wine tastings, private dinners, and holiday events.Ensure ambiance, music, lighting, and overall atmosphere reflect the brand identity.Financial Management
Develop and manage annual budget and financial targets; track and analyze sales and expenses to improve profitability.Monitor and control labor costs, COGS, and operational expenses.Review profit & loss statements, payroll reports, and other financial documents to inform operational decisions.Oversee and ensure accurate payroll processing; verify hours, manage pay rates, and resolve discrepancies.Collaborate on tip-out structure development and implementation, ensuring fairness and alignment with company policy.Marketing & Community Engagement
Create and execute marketing strategies, and partnerships.Plan and promote special events to drive traffic and guest engagement.Cultivate local partnerships to enhance brand visibility and community presence.Stay informed on trends in food, beverage, and hospitality to keep the brand current and competitive.Compliance & Reporting
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal health, labor, and safety regulations.Provide ongoing staff training on safety, service, and operational policies.Prepare and present regular reports to ownership, including sales analysis, staffing performance, and operational challenges or successes.Address and resolve any staff or guest conflicts professionally, promoting a positive work environment.Qualifications :
Proven experience (1+ years) as a General Manager or in a senior management role, ideally in a fine-dining or wine-focused restaurant.Strong leadership skills with experience managing, developing, and motivating a diverse team.Expertise in financial management, including budgeting, cost control, and profit analysis.Ability to create and implement strategies that drive revenue and increase profitability.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with both guests and staff.Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work well under pressure.Restaurant managementShift managementFood Safety CertificationServSafeABC / ABRASkills :
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.Strong understanding of inventory management.Proficiency in using point-of-sale (POS) systems, resy, inventory software, and Google Office Suite.Creative thinking with a passion for providing an extraordinary dining and drinking experience.Knowledge of local, state, and federal health, safety, and liquor laws.DOH food handler certified.Education & Experience :
High school diploma or equivalent required; a degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or a related field is preferred.Minimum of 1 years of experience in a managerial position within the restaurant or hospitality industry.Physical Requirements :
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds.Ability to work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required by business needs.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure and attention to detailBenefits :
