Electric Pricing Manager
Job Purpose
The purpose of this job is to lead the electric function of the New England Pricing group. Overall responsibilities include developing rate design and pricing analysis for each electric distribution company in New England.
The job requires detailed understanding and knowledge of retail rate making, tariff administration, retail contract pricing, commodity pricing, billing protocols, and ratemaking treatment and implications of developing technologies and their interplay with traditional cost recovery.
Responsibilities include ensuring the timely and accurate preparation and submission of all filings in which the team is integrally involved, informing and contributing to the strategic development of pricing and cost recovery proposals and tariff development, leading in the team in the implementation of the company’s strategic goals, working with the New England Revenue Requirements team to collaborate in the development of proposals involving revenue requirements issues, providing guidance and support to the business in tariff interpretation and application, ensuring adequate communication and processing of all rate changes, along with ensuring all tariffs, commodity cost adjustments and retail pricing filings are made with state agencies on time and accurately.
The manager implements, and in many cases, informs and contributes to the development of, pricing mechanisms that reflect the company’s regulatory strategy as well as the regulators’ initiatives and recovers all appropriate costs.
The manager also coordinates or oversees the coordination of the preparation of filings and the implementation of programs with various internal departments to ensure timely, efficient, and accurate implementation, often providing guidance and consultation to guide in the implementation.
Key Accountabilities
- Oversee the New England Electric Pricing function and ensure all filings prepared by this group are made accurately and on time.
- Inform and contribute to the development of regulatory pricing strategies that align with overall corporate strategy.
- Develop innovate approaches to all aspects of rate design and pricing functionality.
- Serve as an expert witness and supervise internal and external expert witnesses in rate cases and other regulatory proceedings, as appropriate.
- Point of contact at state regulatory agencies on electric pricing matters.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders on electric pricing matters, when appropriate (i.e., other electric company representatives).
- Collaborate and coordinate with internal departments on the development of proposals, the preparation of filings, and the implementation of approved programs, often serving as consultant to the departments to provide for timely, efficient, and accurate implementation.
- Supervise electric pricing staff to ensure sufficient knowledge to complete tasks accurately and on time. Perform mid-year and annual staff evaluations.
- Manage electric pricing workload, assignments, and priorities.
- Develop staff to assume increasingly challenging and complex tasks and to assume role of expert witness in filing(s).
Knowledge & Experience Required
Any candidate for the position must be able to demonstrate a track record of achievement in the financial field, have flexibility of mind, and be willing to undertake a diverse range of activities.
- At least 10 years of experience in the regulated utility industry, preferably in the area of regulation, rates, accounting, and / or pricing matters.
- Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of utility rate design, tariff administration, retail pricing, and commodity pricing.
- Experience managing a team of professional staff which performs a variety of tasks.
- Demonstrated strong analytical skills and good business judgment through actual experience that will allow for the contribution towards developing innovative solutions and their implementation.
- Demonstrated strong communication skills, both written and oral, to establish a high level of confidence with more senior management and regulatory agencies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, or engineering. Relevant work experience is a substitute for field of study.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and effective planning and execution ability.
- Proven track record of effectively managing teams.

$132,000 - $155,000 a year
