MENTAL HEALTH & DISABILITIES SPECIALIST

SUMMARY : The Leaguers is seeking a Mental Health & Disabilities Specialist Head Start / Early Head Start Program.

POSITION DESCRIPTION : The Mental Health & Disabilities Specialist is respnsible for helping establish and maintain relationships with families of special needs children. They assist families in identifying resources and securing services for children.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Work with the Director of Mental Health & Disabilities to secure appropriate services for children suspected or diagnosed as having "special needs;"
• Advocate for families;
• Develop contact with outside agencies and serve as a liaison;
• Assist in training with the Director;
• Lend support to teacing staff in the area of special needs initiatives;
• Participate in Child Study Team Meetings;
• Work closely with clinicians;
• Reports pertinent information concerning on-going evaluations of each child's needs and progress in appropriate records;

Negotiated based on credentials and expereince
