Join Our Team as a Locum Physician – General Medicine VA

Are you a dedicated general medicine provider eager to serve our nation's Veterans? VHS is actively seeking experienced physicians to deliver vital Compensation & Pensions exams and Separation Health Assessments across Virginia. This flexible, PRN opportunity allows you to make a meaningful difference while maintaining control over your schedule.

In this role, you will conduct interview-based assessments and some physical evaluations, including range of motion and muscle strength testing, without prescribing or providing treatment. Providers must have their own office locations in Virginia and be comfortable performing exams on a part-time basis, with options for half-day or full-day shifts, depending on your availability.

Required Skills:

• Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
• Active license to practice medicine in Virginia
• Background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine
• Experience with Compensation & Pension examinations or military/VA medical assessments is preferred
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently
• Ability to perform interview-based assessments with some physical components

Nice to Have Skills:

• Prior experience with VA or military health evaluations
• Knowledge of VA claims processes and documentation
• Familiarity with medical reporting and documentation requirements

Preferred Education and Experience:

• MD or DO with at least 2 years of clinical practice
• Previous experience in disability evaluations or P&P exams
• Certification in relevant areas (e.g., DMA certifications) is encouraged but not mandatory

Other Requirements:

• Own a private office located in Virginia for conducting exams
• Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings or weekends if needed
• Willingness to complete necessary credentialing and onboarding processes promptly
• No travel reimbursement; travel is included in rates when applicable

Compensation:

• Hourly rate: $624.00 (flat rates for exams as specified below)
• $800 flat rate for half-day (up to 4 hours)
• $1,600 flat rate for full-day (5+ hours)
• One-time bonus of $650 upon completing all required training and initial exams
• No overtime, holiday, or extra rates; adherence to flat-rate structure
