We are looking for an exceptionalSenior Test Engineerto join our MKS team as we develop and deploy an automated, modular, flexible, scalable, and secure test platform for our manufacturing and production operations.

In this role, you'll be part of a cross-functional team of experts, involved in the entire product lifecycle. From test & validation of early design concepts to automation for production final test stations, you will collaborate with our team of optical designers, mechanical, electrical, & manufacturing engineers to deliver world class test automation solutions.

Primary Job Duties :

  • Design, develop, and implement custom software solutions to automate the assembly, alignment, and testing of complex optomechanical products.
  • Work from predefined process steps and / or flowcharts to create code modules to effectively automate test procedures.
  • Interface various instruments to a computer using instrument drivers and toolkits (dlls, SDK) and common instrumentation protocols.

Create a single application that can call all instruments.

  • Generate clean and simple user interfaces (GUI) so the automated steps are easily and safely handled by production personnel.
  • Document all code comprehensively so a non-programmer can understand what the code is doing. Use block diagrams or process flow charts as required.

Maintain revision control of the source code.

  • Actively participate in the development lifecycle of the products under test, from concept, to design, to production. Find and propose ways to optimize and improve product manufacturability through automation.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical and Manufacturing engineers for test fixture design & tooling, test procedures and plans, equipment calibration and maintenance.

Education :

  • BS in Physics, Optical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related STEM field.
  • Advanced degree is a plus.

Basic Job Requirements :

  • 3+ years of experience programming in one of the following, LabVIEW, Python, Visual Basic , C++, C# for data acquisition
  • Experience with source code control systems like TortoiseGit or similar.
  • Experience with Optics, Photonics, Lasers, Motion Systems, Cameras, Image Processing.
  • Experience using lab instrumentation such as Function Generators, Oscilloscopes, Power Meters, Source Measurement Units, Power Supplies, DMMs.
  • Experience connecting to instruments with a variety of protocols such as USB, RS232, TCPIP, GPIB, Modbus, Ethernet / IP
  • Excellent documentation, communication & collaboration skills.

Experience in these areas would be considered a plus :

  • 5+ years of experience programming in LabVIEW for Production Test.
  • National Instruments Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD) or Architect (CLA).
  • Actor Framework and / or Object Oriented LabVIEW experience.
  • Ability to create scalable, modular, reusable code.
  • SQL Server and / or MySQL database experience.
  • Python or similar scripting language experience.

Compensation and Benefits :

Salary Pay Range : $78,400 to 145,600 per year. This range is a good faith esti mate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law.

At MKS, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.

  • Bonus : This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS or as applicable .
