Summary : This Environmental, Health, Safety Specialist role helps develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures to promote occupational health and safety and to strengthen the culture of safety at NPK Construction Equipment, Inc. The EHS Specialist will build and maintain strong relationships with senior leadership, operations management, and production team members to support the organization.
Duties And Responsibilities :
- Promotes a culture of safety and continuous improvement through training and sharing of lessons learned through hazard identification.
- Encourages employees and supervisors to report any injury that occurs on the job, even a slight cut or strain, immediately.
- Develops, organizes, and implements environment, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance.
- Leads accident prevention efforts in the form of corrective and preventative action development, tracking, and closure.
- Coordinates monthly plant inspections and recurring program inspections.
- Coordinates and leads monthly safety committee meetings.
- Coordinates and conducts training to ensure applicability and comprehension amongst new and existing employees.
- Leads investigations of incidents, performs root cause analysis and recommends corrective and preventative measures.
- Generates and maintains EHS-relevant records.
- Administrates learning management system and safety management system.
- Maintains thorough knowledge of federal and state OSHA and EPA regulations, communicating with organization any regulatory changes or updates.
- Performs and documents Job Safety Analysis in non-routine production processes.
- Establishes and documents standard safety protocols in standard operating procedures and process work instructions.
- Collects necessary data for regulatory reporting and permitting required by state or federal agencies.
- Verifies compliance with PPE and company safety protocols through daily visual observation.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. / B.S.) in related field or equivalent experience.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate professionally and effectively in person, on the phone, electronically, or through other means to individuals and groups.Experience with SWPPP, SPCC, and waste management in manufacturing.Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.Ability to manage priorities and workflow.OSHA 30 certification.Physical Demands :
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; climb stairs and / or ladders. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to fifty pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus, with or without correction.
Work Environment :
While conducting inspections, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, PIT traffic, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The individual may be exposed to loud machinery or equipment, dust and fumes.
