Job description

Overview :

This position acts as the key link between Accounting and Marketing, overseeing financial accounting, reporting, and compliance for the company's advertising fund and customer loyalty initiatives. The Senior Accountant ensures precise revenue recognition, tracks liabilities, and reconciles loyalty transactions, while collaborating with various departments to support business insights and strategic goals. The role also focuses on process improvement, maintaining GAAP compliance, and supporting audit activities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage accounting functions for the advertising fund, including revenue recognition, deferred revenue, expense timing, and loyalty program accounting.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals related to marketing and loyalty activities.
  • Ensure adherence to US GAAP, internal controls, and applicable accounting standards.
  • Monitor program activity to identify risks, discrepancies, or areas needing corrective action.
  • Work closely with Marketing, IT, Finance, and Operations to understand program structures, promotions, and system changes affecting accounting.
  • Provide financial analysis on loyalty program performance, redemption patterns, and program liabilities.
  • Support scenario modeling and program enhancements from an accounting and compliance perspective.
  • Collaborate with technology teams to automate data feeds, reconciliations, and reporting for loyalty activities.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline; CPA certification preferred.
  • 3-6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including exposure to revenue recognition or loyalty program accounting.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and hands-on experience with ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and proficiency with Excel and financial systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Nice to Have Skills & Experience

  • CPA
  • Background in public accounting (Big 4 or regional firm) and / or corporate accounting is a plus.
