Salary and Benefits
Salary range is $29.33 / hour to $74.51 / hour, with a midpoint of $51.92 / hour. New hires typically receive between minimum and midpoint, however, we may go slightly higher based on experience, internal equity and market.

General Purpose
The Transit Systems Electrician under general direction leads field installation efforts and performs skilled installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems including medium- and low-voltage power distribution, electrical grounding, lighting, fire alarm, electrical control systems and / or signal processing systems, CES devices, VMS systems, CCTV, Fare Collection systems and other equipment. This position is technical and is expected to be fully functional in all aspects of design and installation of various systems. In addition to new work installations, the electrician provides expertise in the repair and troubleshooting of transit technology equipment on Sound Transit properties; responds to and oversees the maintenance of emergency repairs 24 / 7 as required. The electrician supervises and evaluates contractors performing work on Sound Transit equipment / sites and coordinates work among groups.
Essential Functions

Performs skilled installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems. Services, troubleshoots, repairs, maintains, designs, and installs CCTV, Fare Collection, VMS and other systems. Configures computer equipment and uses standard tools to assist with system problem analysis for repair, maintenance, and programming of equipment.Oversee the work of contractors performing installation work. Ensure standards in connectivity, quality, and workmanship are met; guide and assist lower level personnel when necessary and / or perform the duties of lower level.Develop electrical design of new systems to be implemented with consultants and Agency staff; modify drawings, create installation plans and deploy through to acceptance and handover to maintenance. Provide input on projects requiring integration of one system with another during design and construction phases.Develop Bills of Materials for system deployments and participate in procurement as necessary to procure parts for installation.Develop standards and processes to deliver project results; ensure work quality and adherence to policies and procedures; ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and directives.Maintain records concerning installation and maintenance work; prepare reports on project status, progress, changes, and related items; maintain forms for tracking corrective maintenance of electrical devices.Evaluate the utility and condition of electrical systems and equipment.Be flexible with working hours. Education and Experience : Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Electronic Communication Systems, or closely related field. Four years of experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of computer systems, logic systems, analog and digital circuitry or electro-mechanical devices; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Licenses or Certifications :
Valid driver's license. Position is responsible for transportation of equipment and personnel.Possession of a current 01 Journeyman Electrical License or higher.Required Knowledge and Skills
